Hi Matt,
I read with interest your post of the Obama turnaround – what a day that would turn out to be! Would appreciate more posts to my email address.
All best in your endeavors,
P
Thanks Patrick. I haven’t figured out how to do automatic email alerts unfortunately – my technical prowess hasn’t got that far.
Hello !
I am a sociology student and I am looking for scientific articles in English about the “fortress Europe”. I want to have conflicting information to synthesize and take a stand. Can someone help me to find appropriate articles?
THANKSSSS
Hi. There is a ton of stuff out there, a lot of which you can find yourself on the Internet. You could start with my book ‘Fortress Europe’, which is mentioned on my website, and will certainly give you a good indication of ‘pro’ and ‘contra’ arguments about the EU’s ‘managed migration’ policies. You could also have a look at the migreurop website (http://www.migreurop.org/?lang=fr). There are numerous crucial reports and documents produced by NGOs on the human rights impact of ‘fortress europe’ eg by PICUM and the Jesuit Refugee Service.
For a different – and more official – perspective, take a look at EU Home Officer Commissoner Cecilia Malmstrom’s speeches, available at: http://ec.europa.eu/commission_2010-2014/malmstrom/speeches/index_en.htm#/c_
Also, you could look at the European Border Agency Frontex’s website. If you want a more academic analysis of EU migration policy, check out Oxford University’s Migration Observatory at:http://migrationobservatory.ox.ac.uk/
That should get you started, then follow your own trails! Good luck!
Oooh ! Thank you very much !
I have to do this from a sociological point of view, compare experts’ ideas. Yes I saw your book, it’s a good thing.
It’ll certainly help me, Thank you !
